The concept of FUFU KARUIZAWA Wind in the Sunshine is ‘A natural resort where the light of the sun and breath of nature fulfill your mind and body’. One of the key features is that you can feel the presence of nature wherever you are in the hotel. Abundant greenery is incorporated even within the guest rooms, and of course, you can enjoy the stunning natural scenery, including views of Mount Asama.
The rare “variegated weeping Ficus microcarpa”, planted in the center of the FUFU Lounge serves as a symbolic tree, making a strong impression. Additionally, hanging pots are suspended from the ceiling, creating a space full of greenery at your eye level and also above. The entrance also features dynamic plant arrangements to welcome guests, ensuring that the public spaces are filled with lush vegetation.
Each guest room has a unique interior style, and we styled plants to match the specific theme of each room. Even indoors, you can feel the richness of nature, as we carefully selected plants that blend seamlessly with Karuizawa’s natural surroundings, including trees with natural shapes that evoke the feeling of sunlight filtering through the leaves. The selected plants are paired with Atelier Vierkant pots, with their sense of solidity and the warmth of the craftsmanship,which enhances the overall experience and ambiance of the room.
A sustainable natural resort that is kind to both people and the environment.
The hotel staff, rather than specialists, maintain all the plants throughout the hotel. To support this, we provided a plant care manual and conducted practical on-site training to ensure proper maintenance after the hotel’s opening. By having the hotel staff take charge of the daily care of the plants, they can easily notice any changes, helping to maintain a hotel filled with beautiful greenery.
They operate with a strong focus on environmental sustainability and local cooperation. For example, they minimize the use of PET bottles and plastic products, adopt sustainable practices and recycled glassware, as well as offering dishes made with vegetables harvested locally in Nagano. We look forward to the success of this natural resort hotel that helps heal people in an environmentally friendly way.
