Toranomon Hills Station Tower

In 2023, Mori Building Co., Ltd. opened the “Toranomon Hills Station Tower” as one of their core buildings for international hub and global business center. The tower is directly connected to the new “Toranomon Hills Station” which is also known as the “Glass Rock”.

Green Wise was responsible for the landscape’s basic design, of which aim was to connect the Toranomon Hills Station Tower area with the Roppongi and the Toranomon areas, and also the implementation design, and construction supervision.

East-West, North-South Environmental Axis and Activity Band

The project site is at the intersection between two major environmental band, one comprised of thick roadside trees forming a boulevard and the other an ecological network formed by several parks and greenery. In such context, we created a lush green landscape in the open space of the site, centred around native plants.

The concept of the “Activity Band,” proposed by the architecture firm OMA, aims to create a three-dimensional connection between the town and streets of Toranomon Hills. This extends the activities of Shintora street to the Station Tower, also keeping in mind the urban axis leading to the Akasaka and Toranomon areas, which results in a seamless connection throughout the city.

We carefully planned the landscape, respecting the policies of the redevelopment area and the building concepts. In order to revitalise the “Activity Band”, we created a landscape plan that connects the ground level with the deck and the West Garden, using greenery to create various spaces that offer different experiences both horizontally and vertically from the ground level up to the 49th floor.

One of the symbols of the project is the T-deck, a bridge that connects the Toranomon Hills Mori Tower, the new station, and the Station Tower.
This creates a new flow of movement at the 2nd-floor level above the national highway, providing a space for workers in the Toranomon area to interact with each other.
